The Tourist Attractions of Coral Bay:

Coral Bay is a popular and family friendly destination that offers the quieter side of life in Cyprus. It’s characterised by a wonderful, natural crescent shaped beach, which although busy is not usually packed to the eyeballs! With hotels, bars and restaurants just off the beach this is a small, but albeit self-contained resort. If you need more in the way of shops and restaurants you can easily visit the much larger town of Paphos, just 6 kilometres distant.

Coral Bay Beach

The beach is definitely what will appeal to most tourists when choosing Coral Bay over any other resort in Cyprus. Many claim it is one of the best beaches on the island and it’s certainly clean and well kept, and is deserving of its EU Blue Flag status. You’ll find young families here, as well as couples looking for a quieter destination away from the crowds, but this doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do – water sports are on offer, plus diving, and parascending if you want a little adventure.

There are also sunbeds and parasols available, and the small resort has some lovely restaurants and bars that haven’t been over anglicised like so many in the larger resorts have been.

Peyia

Just inland from Coral Bay is the town of Peyia. It’s situated on the steep hills that lead down to the coast and as such it offers some fabulous views of Coral Bay and the coastline around it. This isn’t a large town with a population of around 10,000 people but it’s growing with the addition of many holiday homes which no doubt will lead to more shops and restaurants being added here. Right now you can get the essential groceries here, and enjoy a number of restaurants along the main road to Coral Bay. But when you need to do a larger grocery shop there are numerous places in Paphos, about 15 minutes drive away, that you can go.

When Should You Visit?:

Coral Bay has a lovely climate that’s warm to hot all year round. The main summer season can last from May to October when average highs range between 24 and 30C though daytime highs will often be much higher than this. Winter is the off season but temperatures are still mild to warm, dropping to an average high of 17C in January, but between November and February is the wetter period.
